Feedback – Breakfast for Champions 2011

Here’s what some of our clients have to say about our programmes in 2011!

2018 | 2017 | 2016 | 2015 | 2014 | 2013 | 2012 | 2011 | 2010 | 2009

I would have preferred it if the Facilitator could have drawn out more learning points/Facilitate group discussion and provided more processing.
-Kelvyanne Teoh, Principal Therapist, Morning Star

It was not a really pleasant experience. 1. there is a lost link from one event to another event, like where is the next event and who? 2. if possible, assigned a Team Facilitator.
-Alex, Manager, Sys-Mac

Arrange training room with enough chairs for resting place after lunch.
-Tan Nyo Kyin, Engineering Manager, Sys-Mac

We were not told that we would get wet totally. We did asked if swimming suit was required but the answer was not so firm. Thus, we only informed the team they might get wet little bit.
-Betty Lee, Staff, Osram

A lot of time was wasted getting everyone divided into Teams. The Teams should have been selected on the day when it was known who would be there. The prepration pace was so slow and we ended up leaving too late to get maximum out of activity. I also think that type of a activity is not suitable for the Singapore weather. Not when you are stuck in a cold aircon room for 2 hours prior to going out into stifling heat.
-Lotte Maxwell, Staff, HP

Very slow start. I think that piece could be run better in regards to getting people into groups and the initial activities. The rest was great.
-SMcNeil, Business Manager, HP

More video/photographers … as not many of us were able to chance upon him for the challenge.
-Christina Ho, Business Planning Manager, HP

Improve the setting of questions.
-Chen Shilu, Senior Officer, UOB

Conducting Team building in USS didn’t really give the participants a chance to interact. Believe having actual Team building activities such as Trust Fall etc will provide a better opportunity for members to communicate and build trust .
-Shi Ting, Manager, UOB

The due care and diligence practised by the Facilitators during all the outdoor activities made this a pleasant experience for me, as safety is one of the major concern. It would however be better if we were able to have Team building activities on the beach or elsewhere in Sentosa, to make our experience more memorable and to enhance the feeling of bonding with our colleagues.
-Clara, Executive, EDB

THE SEARCH FOR CLUES TO THE PUZZLE.
-Pang Chee Hwee Steven, SO, UOB

Food was not good.
-Mirza Laeeque Baig, Senior Manager, NUS

Water bottles should provide during the activities in USS.
-Zin, Executive, Maersk Tankers

The Facilitator was way below par. I did not enjoy his presentation at all, although Angelina was good!
-Shahoul Hamid, Marine Department, Maersk Tankers

water bottle drink should be distributed before Team enter the USS. No transparency of the result, the Teams do now know how well/bad they score, their strength and weakness.
-Ann Jew, Assistant Manager,Maersk Tankers

It was great fun but in the beginning, maybe we have some music, videos while waiting for the rest. And the geocaching answers as well at the end. :) It was overall a great Team building exercise!
-Eugene, Site Manager, HP

I have already submitted earlier, could not view pictures. Re-try to view pictures.
-NUS

Personally I didnt like the Mouse Trap, Inverted Spider Web and the High Element activity. But I’m sure many of them enjoyed.
-Ho Meng Yuek, Executive, EDB

To improve the amenities facilities, passage way is too conjested when there is a large group of participants queuing for food or exchanging rooms.
-Tang Jeck Ling, Manager, Cost Control (E&M), LTA

I have already done it the first time I log-in. But was not able to view due to high traffic.
-NUS

Time management.
-Shanmugam Senthil, AVP, UOB

Open field could be good to open our mind and distress, as the current venue look tight and clamp.
-Lau Kwok Siong, Senior Safety & Health Manager, NUS

The group was too big and most of us dont have close working relationship.
-LTA

Too many questions for a short period.
-Takeshi Mitsuoka, Staff, SOS

The fun of interacting with the colleagues. The ice-breaker session was a tad too long, I think.
-Ady Chandra, Manager, HP.

There was insufficient ingredients didnt get much help from the staffs, they told us to look for it ourselves.
-Nora Tan, Administrative Executive, Vifor Pharma

The some of Facilitators were not clear with instructions.
-Siti, Staff, HSA

The Facilitator had arranged the program in a way that all of us have a chance to mingle around with staff that we dont know. There are a lot of fun and interaction. However, the downside is the food which is not good.
-Catherine Ng, Manager, Parexel

Nice and funny FOCUS Team treasure hunt with GPS but duration was too long and venue is not interesting. Challenges, ,shopping and cooking parts were excellent.
-Liesbeth Schmit, Air France

My group enjoyed the food and everyone brought home with a souvenir. However, there were also a few groups that didnt have a chance to do the same. It would be better if the activity can be designed in such a way that all groups are able to achieve the bonus stations.
-Stephanie, Corporate Development Manager, Civica

Better food!
-HSA

It was a good Team building activity but it was a pity that we did not have much time to do more and enjoy the sights more.
-Civica

I attended this program about 4-5 yrs ago. Many of the activities and jokes were exactly the same as what were presented 5 yrs ago by another Facilitator. It wld be good to have sth refreshing and new but unfortunately we heard and did the same thing even though the Faciliators were different fr 5 yrs ago.
-Singtel

Some of the activites are repeated e.g. finding pple to make up the number, the activity is played in the morning and the similar nature of activity is played in the afternoon.
-Joycelin, IT Manager, Singtel

Maybe if we can have a longer duration, then the whole experience will be strengthened even more.
-Eddy Matthias, Global Category Manager, Rio Tinto

The fun and the sweat. But could have been more intensive and adventurous.
-Hui Yar, CRA, Parexel

It will be good to give us the answers after we had completed the 20 questions. So that we know whether we got it right.
-Cecilia Chan, F&B Executive, TANGS

The Facilitator is knowledgable and very good at teaching us what have been programmed. I believe this programme taught us our individual tendency and prejudice etc. a lot. I also would like the Facilitator to be flexible in comments from the participants that are outside of the original scope but could be beneficial to share with others.
-Hisashi Masuda, Director, SONY

More time needed. Clearly highlight which are the rides to take to obtain 100 points each.
-Tay Kon Nee, Manager, UOB

More elaboration in the activities.
-EMMES

The activities were fun especially the treasure hunt. Good to have more time for that activity.
-Mark Yeo, Executive Director, UOB

Lead Facilitator should speak faster and get to the main point faster. In circle game (mousetrap), Facilitators should speak louder. Facilitator should sit with participants in the circle so that all participants can have a good view of him and his demonstration. Game leaders tend to be too young earnest, though they wanted to encourage full team participation, they were unable to empathasize with some older participants who seem to have an unusual great fear of getting hurt (eg, by the mousetrap).
-AM, NUS

It would have been more fun if more activities were done outdoor..
-Joan Villaceran Guarin, Revenue & Costing Analyst, Pacific Refreshments

Very often, participants were asked to choose a partner to work with. But subsequently, they didnt get to work together because the parnter was always assigned to another group. We can perhaps guess the reason for this, but it would be good to explain this to the participants.
-Garry Ng, Director, IT Governance, DFS

The bathroom need improvement.
-IE Singapore

The Facilitators did not fulfill what they promised. First they lost our videos, then they promise to play a video montage during our dinner. However there was nothing throughout our dinner, not even apology for not being able to complete the video. This is a company event, do you know How much more better the dinner can be with the montage??? 62 staffs were all expecting to see the montage because that was promised by your staffs.
-Stanley Siow, Network Support Officer, Qi

Better equipped kitchen utensils facility.
-Prudential

My Team was not given a pen. This results that we were unable to write answers on quizes. However, we recorded answers in the phone. Hence, we wrote the answers when we reached the camp.
-Meryl Mak Sau Han, Manager, UOB

Better equipped kitchen.
-Lynn, Administration, Prudential

I have already submitted the survey form when I first log in, why do we need to fill I the survey form for each time we log in….this is my 3rd time filling the survey form.
-Lee Yan Ling, Director PMP, Certis

Food quality can be better based on the price paid. Rice was not enough and top-up was not fast enough.
-Qiu Yizheng, Head Development, Certis

More jokes.
-Wee Chee Sian, Manager, Exploit

The activities were outdated. I have attended other Team building events many years back, and they were already doing the same activities which you did for your event. You need to new ideas and refresh you Team!
-Tokio Marine

The Facilitators did a very good job, the food is ok too. Areas for improvement are noise can be heard from both sides of the training venue. Hope to have a more open training venue to enjoy nature. Toilets should be clean at least every after break period.
-Manuel Canlas, Senior Housekeeper, FAR EAST

It was a quick and very effective session. The rain gods didnt permit us to go outdoors hence disappointed.
-Maneesh Menda, Standard Chartered Bank

We could have spent less time indoors and more time on the race. Overall a great event and very enjoyable.
-Robert Ireland, VAISALA

Have to improve Food.
-Veerendra Nath, LTA

This program wasted Gemaltos money.
-Lam Clement, Gemalto

The Team Building program was too short. It should be lengthened to two days.
-Sean, LTA

Some of us have serious headache lasting more than one day because we were sitting 0.5 metre from the screen showing the videos. By the time we realised it, too late. I am sure other participants in other courses have same problem
-LTA

For the Whale Watch, thewooden planks need to be polished, I saw a lot of jagged wooden pieces on the surface and may can injury
-William Wong, H.B Fuller

For The Cooking Challenge!, the cooker and other equipment should be set up in the room so that the Team could stay together, rather than spilt into 2 halves where one remained in the room and the other half went outside to cook.
-Joyce, Singapore Custom

Time to short for the activity. Should have a 1 full day event… :)
-HAIRUL NIZAR SANEP, NUHS

Could not try all the station due to time factor.
-Jeff Lee, Chanel

The games are pretty dull for me. I was expecting it to be more exciting and was thus greatly disappointed.
-Ryan, DBS

It’s a pity that the actual water rafting wasnt part of the team building. The water rafting building to the actual rafting will be a good bonding session among the colleagues. The Myer Briggs personality sharing is quite generic. Readable via the web. Minimal sharing or examples quoted of colleagues of certain personality.
-Jocelyn Chong, Singtel

Lunch for the day was not enough and bad cooking. Was very disappointed with the lunch. The great programme made up for it.
-Sheila Chua, Singtel

The utensil a bit old, the colour of the pots were coming off and not enought cooking utensils
-Shirley Teng, OCBC

Did not utilize the location ie SENTOSA. The activities played could be carried out in campus itself. Overall, it was a disappointment :(
-Siti Aigah Jemy, NUS

A little rushed. More time will be good. Overall, still very effective. Thanks.
-Sharon Choong, SAP

Too much to do in the very hot sun…when its that HOT, less could be more. add a bit more teamwork in THINKING over results, like form song titles or messages from the clues we get from the sites so the team has to do some thinking, instead of rushing all over in the sun, become a very physical sweaty event.
-Richard, SAP

The activities were very engaging. But i thought the insturctions for The Incredible Race! are not detailed enough althought my Team came in First.
-Lanxer, Aeroflex The venue could be improved a lot. Especially for mostly indoor activities. Facilities can be cleaner (e.g. toilets)and be more professional-looking (main indoor venue including chairs, lunch/snacks area + catering service). Some items did not seem to be very hygienic (smelly blindfold). However, the intention was very good, the activities were energetic, the Facilitators were very energetic and engaging. Overall it was an enjoyable experience.
-Joesph Sorongon, DBS

The room was a bit rundown and the toilets need a lot of improvement. The floors were wet.
-Celeste, DBS

Food arrangement could have been better.
-Sudhir,Schneider

More Emphasis to b given on key areas where one can know his drawbacks to improve on.
-Bhaskar GuhB, OTCi

It was funfilled yet there is a slight lack of nutrition. More fluids and a better food caterer would have made it even better.
-Fareed Maricar, HSA

The debrief should be more powerful.
-Bui Thi Hong Hai, AIA

The Facilitators were all good. However, FOCUS Adventure must take note of certain sensitivities in the Asian context in terms of touch, e.g. giving of back massage (during the energiser) between different sexes. Where there is going to be direct physical contact between sexes, the facilitators must inform participants before the start so that participants can decide. Different people have different comfort levels in terms of this.
-Tanjong Katong Girls’ School

Areas for progress – 1. Facilitation skills for Co-Facilitators to be enhanced 2. Training aids e.g. blindfolds used had an odour when issued. To explore the use of disposable masks which are more hygienic for participants use
-Kristine Cheong, NETS

Very lively and energetic activities. Just wish that the learning points to be drawn out are stronger.
-Ivy Goh, Sony

A bigger place to play indoor activities. Longer time for the challenges outdoors.
-Lim Boon Ching, UOB

Some suggestions: It would be better to have more than 1 picture set per group. Find it a bit difficult to share 1 copy among us and sometimes lose track Find the distance is a bit far to walk. Would be good if we can have a bike or something similar.
-Belinda, UOB

As there are more older staffs in GFCS, it would be better if there is pre-survey on the physical condition of the staffs and tweaked the activities accordingly to be less vigorous (e.g. less moving around and stair climbing).
-Tan Siok Gee, UOB

For the laser combat, i thought it will be good to equipped the Facilitator with walkie talkie.
-Abu, NTUC Income

The Facilitator uses flipcharts a lot and there isn’t a proper flipchart stand for him. At times, he is fumbling with the A stand and it is quite distracting for the participants. I think he should be given the proper equipment so that he can perform to his best. Another suggestion, shower caps should be given for participants who take part in Laser Quest. As it is a physical activity, the cap could be quite wet after 1 use.
-Pan Chee Keong, NTUC Income

To have campfire at night to pass the night rather than being locked up in rooms and sleeping.
-Siew Ping, AMD

Maybe the Facilitators could have told the participants to wear comfortable walking shoes.
-Vinayakan Aiyer, AMEX

Overall program was good but the big let-down was to the administration which leave a sour taste in term of quantity and quality.
-Henry, AMD

Logistic such as food and lodging could be improved.
-Yap CS, AMD

Might have been more interesting to include an indoor Team activity instead of doing the hand-shakes and massages.
-Lawrence Ang, IHIS

To have more outdoor activities.
-Norintan, NEA

Food catered was not enough for the number of pax.
-Grace, Sony

Not a pleasant experience – made to laugh at ourselves which is not pleasant for some of the participants:- can be done more subtly
-Apple Chow, NUS

There is a lot of repeated programme.
-Serene Ang, Sony

The activities are interesting and encourage teamwork. However, there should be a summary at the end of each activity to reflect how it helps to achieve our objective.
-Lee Tai Lim, GIC

1. the transfer to from USS would have been better if dedicated transfer mode was provided. We had a very unpleasant tiring journey back to indoor training venue. Maybe participants’ age should be taken into consideration. Lead Facilitator should make sure that he gives out accurate up to date info eg: changing of food retail voucher (obsolete already)
-NUHS NCIS

The Facilitators were friendly and helpful. The activities were enjoyable. Would have preferred more outdoor activities and/or even more challenging activities.
-Ranjini De Silva, NUS

Indian food in packets was difficult and troublesome in opening so many packets. That could have been managed better. But overall it was really a nice event.
-Sumeet Sharma, Global Foundries

Well organise except for toilets have no lights after blackout
-Tan Sok Lan, NUHS

More time should be allocated to the GPS Race 1.25 hours are not suffcient.
-Teo See Quek, LTA

More time should be allocated toThe Geocaching Challenge! to find check points instead of 1.25 hours were given. Of course, the bus should have came earlier
-Barry, LTA

While it was a great adventure to learn about Singapore thorugh The Incredible Race Challenge!, I think where we could have gained more was through a debriefing on relevant points like Teamwork, coordination, persistent and dilligent efforts in locating targets etc. Overall, I enjoyed it, though. Great team, FOCUS Adventure Team and professional approach.
-Subhro Ghosh, VWR

The outdoor Team event did The Incredible Race! which I enjoyed very much. However the activities are very little. Need to include more activities outdoors which were also started late morning. Should start early morning after staff arrive.
-LTA

To put in place a safety net just in case for precaution or safety.
-Alice Chia, Abbott

Breakfast should be served on time once we have arrived at the hotel. Some of the Energizers should not repeat the same as the previous one, such as the free massage activity.
-Desmond Wong, NTU Centre for Continuing Education

FOCUS Facilitators were good basically. However, you should have Facilitators who have more vast experience in the corporate world; who could have lots more experience in the managerial arena. Note I mean reasonably more years in corporate organization in the management Team.
-Sony

I feel that the lack of strong Facilitators during the breakout sessions was disappointing. Overall, the event met its target.
-Norman, iDA

What was a bit negative was that the the two Teams had a big difference timewise in getting the job done. The Team with the luge and the tower component were much faster than the other Team. Such hughe time difference should not occur.
-Yolanda, Merck

I had fun participating in the activities. This is one of the more interesting Team Building activity I have had. Good job to the FOCUS Adventure Team! I feel more time could be given to the teams to strategise for the Laser Combat. 1 minute is just too rush to get the Team members to contribute ideas and to agree on a plan. Without this time to plan, the Team Building element is lacking. Then it is just another shooting game.
-iDA

Treasure hunt short of time, weather is too hot and most of us fall sick after the course.
-Toh Poh Guat, NUHS

The Cooking Challenge! should be more structured in terms of checking each groups: Planning, strategies, communication, coordination, conceptualisation etc.
-Luvinna Lew, Epson

Pros: Day away from work, and enthusiastic facilitators. Suggestion for possible improvement : provide a morning break or refreshments when participants arrive? 4hrs was a long time to go without food particularly for those with stomach issues.
-Constance Kwee, Micron

Half a day session was abit rushed. Perhaps can include more interactive activities so that the Team can bond together as a whole. The Facilitators were friendly.
-Sherlin, RSAF

The room next door makes lots of noises. Room should be sound proof. Otherwise it is very noisy when two evens takes place at the same time.
-Lek, Abbott

Instead of giving postive feedback, perhaps water/refreshment can be provided after The Incredible Race!
-Jacky Ong, RSAF

It was too hot to have an outdoor event in Melacca.
-Benson Wong, Salesforce

The programs were too bookish, theoretical and not explained properly at times. When we played the numbers circle game, there were 4-5 groups waiting outside. That was a waste of time! Would strongly recommend doing programmes to involve most people at most times, else it gets boring.
-Deepanker Dua, Salesforce

The mouse traps are rather not safe, user may get hurt.
-Alicia Lim, LTA

From ground zero to the top of the Team Challenge Pyramid. Most of us are worried when one of us fall, the entire group will follow. It is more of communications and Teamwork throughout.
-Jason Wong, Atlas

Perhaps able to make games less touchy. Games were a bit too touchy which may not be good for women.
-Jasmine

The video clip shown was interesting. It would be better for the activities to be done in the morning.
-Saik Aik Wye Yin, PA

Upgrade your facilities, it look old.
-Joesph Tan, PA

Better Food Refreshments
-Rajkumar Velupillai, HP

Less excitement with The Rollercoaster Challenge! since it was rainy day. Hope to have more creative and fun games in future.
-Heng, Kathy, HP

It was a quick and very effective session. The rain gods didn’t permit us to go outdoors hence disappointed.
-Maneesh Menda, Standard Chartered Bank

We could have spent less time indoors and more time on the race. Overall a great event and very enjoyable.

-Joyce, Singapore Custom

Time to short for the activity. Should have a 1 full day event… :)
-HAIRUL NIZAR SANEP, NUHS

The pace was too slow, spend too long in the hall.
-Jeff, H.B Fuller

I prefer more activities/ challenge (heights). Its a bit short (duration) for me. Make it a two days event or something? Haha. But I did enjoy myself!
-Sharmila, Singapore Customs

However during mealtimes, the resort was not very punctual. For the dinner and the breakfast, my colleagues feedbacked that it took a while for them to set up, and even after they had done so, the food was cold. Some of the room lights were also faulty. A few air-conditioners did not work properly too. FOCUS adventure could also help by giving announcements such as where to meet and what time just before everyone dissipates. Apologies that I did not feedback this to you earlier as I only realised it when a few of them asked me questions which I could not answer until I asked you. The place is really great and it would be better if they could improve on the above-mentioned issues.
-Shok Li Lee, Takeda Singapore

Indoor activity the space was small as for 85+.
-Albert Lim, STELOP

Suggestion – Debrief at the end of the day. Explain the objective and comment on the overall performance of each activity/ game.
-Ng Peng Seng, STELOP

I would have preferred it if the Facilitator could have drawn out more learning points/Facilitate group discussion and provided more processing.
-Kelvyanne Teoh, Principal Therapist, Morning Star

To have more Facilitators!
-Kwok Wei Liang, ERNST & YOUNG

Spent too long on the ice-breaker activities. It is the same set of activities as the recent SAP-Industry Group Team building back in August 2011. Not much collaboration or interaction during Geocaching, perhaps better if we had more than just 1 geocache machines and more team challenge stations. Having said that, we will still work with FOCUS on the next Team building. Hopefully, we have given you more time to prepare.
-Fanny Wong, SAP

The duration was too short, although it was no fault of the event Faciliator. Those who engaged in the activites enjoyed themselves.
-Janis, OCBC

It will be great if outdoor activities could be included since the Team building is held in Sentosa but we were only using a room for our activities.
