DISC Profile: S-I-C
BFC 9 is truly an enriching experience where not only I have learned basic facilitation skills but also get in touch with my inner emotions and knowing myself better. I never have so much fun since my uni days and glad to know the wonderful individuals which we formed together as a team. The team spirit was so strong that I felt so angry throughout the morning jog when Jennifer is been dropped out so as to improve performance, even thought later I concluded that it is the best for the team and for her.
My most memorable experience will be the Team Challenge Pyramid. For those of you who want to learn about working as a team and leadership while having fun and challenge. Look no further, I bet you will have more than you bargain for.
If anybody asks me whether they should join the BFC, I will definitely reply, just do it and you wouldn't regret it.
Last but not the least, thank you every one of you in BFC 9 for making it such a valuable experience and keep in touch!
Where every minute is a challenge!! Yes, indeed. BFC 9 is something, which I would never expect to be in or nevertheless graduated from it. To my surprise, I made it through with the help of our DEAREST ANDREW and all OUR TEAMMATES. These 5 days will definitely make significant differences to everyone’s life. All hearts and souls check-in from different backgrounds, different environment and different personalities but check-out as one unity.
A wonderful course which will not only help you in overcoming fear from different areas but set you to learn dynamic teamwork building, working hard together to achieve a common goal, seeing things eye to eye and having a shared vision.
Being someone who is suffering from acrophobia since young, I have never tried taking a cable car in my entire life, never dare to cross a overhead bridge till the age of 14, getting sweaty palms with those trembling legs when come to high rise buildings. The High Elements and Pyramid was a great challenge. But I have overcome this fear with the help of the team! Thanks! To everyone from BFC9!
The Basic Facilitator Course is an eye opener of teambuilding activities that may be available - for company retreats, corporate learning sessions, or even management facilitation. The edge Focus Adventure provides is the depth of thought process in facilitating a session, so executives are able to draw immediate applications that can be applied back to their organisations. Though it has been mention as being a "Basic Facilitator Course", I am sure that many seasoned facilitators will still find this training to be more than basic. The variety of activities, with its emphasis on safety issues, instruction giving, team assistance will be very helpful for any facilitator to gain insights into the world of outdoor activity facilitation. Lead facilitators Andrew and Adam's questioning have the uncanny ability to bring in the fun, cause us to reflect on ourselves and our team performance, draw immediate useful application through retrospection, and inspire team performance where "the rubber hits the road" in business. Andrew has masterfully put participants into new thresholds of learning - by not only imparting to us and coaching us, but also giving us multiple opportunities to experience what it means to direct the focus of sessions to effective learning moments.
Overall, this experience has been invaluable and unique - with its variety of happily unexpected learning moments. A big thanks to Focus staff who have supported the programe and team members BFC9 for this unforgettable time together.
Expect the unexpected! The journey to complete was ardous and hard, yet with the support of fellow coursemates we managed to pull through! The course really exemplifies FOCUS Adventure's motto," Where Every Moment is a Challenge!"
BFC 9 has not only been an eye opener, but also a mind opener. Most of us enter the course with a fixed mindset of following strictly to perimeters given and perimeters that we perceived. Through the course, I have learnt to analysis the perimeters and stretch it to our advantage and make ourselves more effective and efficient.
I have also learnt that team work can be looked upon in a bigger framework than usual. For example, when we talk about teamwork in our working environment, we always think of our department, our section or our division. Have we ever thought of teamwork consisting of the whole company as a team? It is important as what one department do can actually affect the performance of another department. Hence, the whole team, the company, will suffer.
Through this course, true friendship has developed as we have been through a lot together for the 5 days. People who started out as strangers are now called friends. These are friends whom you can trust, will not let you fall. The Team Challengue Pyramid is a real challenge and I am looking forward to challenge it again in the future. For life is full of challenges and you will only grow after you have faced them and conquer them.
I was very excited going into BFC 9 with lotsa of expectations. I must say that I came out of BFC 9 having my expectations met and knowing that I can dream bigger and do better in the tasks entrusted to me.
Special shoutout to my coursemate and lead facilitator Andrew for their encouragements and the occassional “suaning” just to get me moving. Hehe..
One of the greatest challenge I have to face was on the TCP because I was so afraid of heights, or to be precise, afraid of being suspended on high. I overcame it with faith in my teammates for they carried me through indeed. However, I learned that people could only encourage or help you to a certain limit, the rest is all up to oneself to overcome. Now, I am even able to assist other groups up on the TCP knowing that I have scaled it.
Finally, BFC 9 is truly an eye-opener for me. It is not just any camps or teambuilding courses, it is much much more than that! It tests your basic instincts on how things should be done by confronting your fears and set notions in life.
Going to BFC was the best choice that I have ever made! It was truly an eye-opener for me as I was pretty surprise at how everyone is so willing to open themselves and share with others their own experiences. Although we do not know each other before this, I can already sense the special bonding between us just from these few days of being together. It’s amazing to see how people of different characters when get together can actually spark the light of innovation. What I saw is the self-less nature of all my team members, whom have encouraged me, guided me, and pushed me along the way. Thank you guys for everything =)
While I get to enjoy free accommodation, free food and the chance to utilize the facilities, the most important thing that I have learnt is how to not only be a fast thinker and also how to think out of the box. Pay attention to all the details around you, for anything can be something crucial. Through this course, I can say that I have become much more confident in myself, overcoming my shyness and improved on public speaking. It has been a long time since something has such a great impact on me. This will always be an amazing experience that I can relate to and apply in my life.
