My thoughts: Without dreams and imagination, you may still exist but you have ceased to live.
It was like a trip down memory lane as I journey through the BFC 8. Surely, the trip was a worthwhile one. Then an outdoor facilitator conducting adventure learning programs, I would never imagine myself going through one as a participant. Having years of prior learning, it was important to empty my learning cup before I immersed into the program as I believe no two programs are exactly the same.
The lead facilitator Mr. Andrew Chua, both skillful and quick-witted brought the BFC 8 group on a performance roller coaster ride throughout the program, created numerous opportunities for interaction that resulted in immense learning and important self-discoveries. Many mind-lights were turned on under his guidance and leadership. Kudos to his timely intervention.
One of my greatest rewards was to learn a lot more about DISC and its application. It was most satisfying and interesting to witness each key traits unfolding and exhibiting its characteristics during the activities and the debrief sessions. Although Dominance is never my key trait but there were occasions that I may have cast shadow on others that resulted him/her in not having an opportunity to express. Personally, acquiring the virtue of being patient and a hearing heart were the valuable lessons for me.
In this course, I met so many like-minded people and it was certainly heart-warming and reassuring. The after hours activities were just as valuable as the interaction continues and more learning was discovered. During the conduct of activities, I am glad that my safety awareness had benefited the group.
Overall the experience was invaluable and unique as it will never be duplicated again under any circumstances. This would be a highlighted chapter in my life. A BIG thanks to all FOCUS staff that has supported the program and the wonderful members of BFC 8.
I had an incredible time at BFC 8.  The training course was pleasantly intense.  Over the 5 days I really got to know the other members in the group really well.  I came out of the course feeling like part of a family.  The training itself is really encouraging that we can be future facilitators and provide a fun and great learning atmosphere for the number of companies that participate in our services.  Thank you, Focus Adventure for giving me the opportunity to participate in this training.
There are so many learning experiences from BFC. It was a great journey for all of us who doesn’t know one another. Howver in a short time, after a unique challenging situation, somehow we discover more about ourselves and can identify with one another and that’s what make all of us as ONE TEAM, not separated as individual.
This is also the first time in my life that I can feel my feet shaking on the Team Challenge Pyramid (TCP). Even though I’m not afraid to fall because we are all protected with safety tools. but I still can’t stop it. With the spirit of the TEAM and support from all members, at last we all can conquer the TCP … .yyyiiiii ….. haaaaaaa ….. J
Finally …. Now I can understand what “Where Every Moment is a challenge!” meant, It’s not just a motto from Focus Adventure. Through BFC 8, I can really understand why we must think every moment as a challenge, how we can see it as a challenge and how to deal with that challenge, so in the end, all of us are going to be a winner for ourselves as a TEAM.

BFC has made us: sweat, bleed, cry, fear, scream, shiver uncontrollably, confused, and even bare a part of our souls. These are just some of the challenges that we faced during these 5 amazing days.
During the course, I have learnt about the importance of situation awareness, communication and teamwork more than any classroom can ever teach me. It has also taught me the extraordinary art of facilitation- to be able to draw ideas and lessons from participants, and not to impose it onto them.
On a deeper level, BFC has brought together 16 very different individuals and has made us into a single formidable team in just 5 days! It has also allowed me to realize that it if we all work together as one single team, unthinkable goals can be achieved without any difficulty! Furthermore, with the DISC profiling, we were able to be sure of who we are, and more importantly- how to put ourselves into others’ mindset and to think the way they do. (oh man that was difficult!)
With new challenges and superb teamwork, we have all grown beyond our expectations within these few days and I am very proud to say that I am a part of BFC 8!
I look forward to working, growing and facing new different challenges with my team of new found friends!
The Courage to make Changes is already half the battle won.
For me, attending the BFC8 at FOCUS Adventure is a long-waited refreshing experience. Thanks to BFC8 and all at Focus Adventure for this possible experience.
On the 1st day of the course, it’s pouring heavily but it has not dampened our excitement in meeting 16 new people in the group. With Andrew as our facilitator and other Focus instructors (with good video and photo-taking skills), we are definitely set up for an adventure.
As the course unfolded itself over the 5 days, I found myself taking on a whole new mindset that is expanding with different perspectives. During the experiential learning activities, new insights evolved unknowingly, but they are brought to the surface during the debrief sessions with Andrew’s skillful facilitating skills. It’s definitely interesting to observe, while having the opportunity to listen intently on the perspectives from 16 individuals of different backgrounds.
With each activity, we are given chances to examine and re-examine our conditioned habits/assumptions that we brought along unknowingly, from our background. The team-work spirit that fosters over the course is another major pushing factor in effecting self-realization. As we completed each activity as a group/team, our own agenda and self-interest has to be realigned against the overall team objectives and goals. This is by no means easy but achievable.
As potential future facilitators, we were also shown some of the basics of the facilitating skills. They emphasize on empowering individual, believing that everyone has the ability to find out their own answers, coming up with their unique solutions.
It’s really fun to see the 16 of us ‘mould’ into ONE heart and ONE mind, filling with laughter at every trial and errors. Making mistakes and learning from them is FUN!
‘Flying Fox’ is never the same again to me, being the finale of the ‘Team Pyramid Challenge’.
It’s much more satisfying to work our way up to the TOP of the pyramid as a team. I learn once again to let go and seek not to control because of FEAR…but to enjoy the process.
