Congratulations to all graduates of Basic Facilitator Course 12 (BFC 12)!
The BFC 12 course was held on the 15-19 October 2008 in Sentosa and Bintan. The 5-day event saw a group of diverse individuals ranging from HR professionals, budding project managers and facilitators, come together as one in true FOCUS fashion. They climbed, ran, cheered, danced, laughed and faced every challenge like total rock stars.
FOCUS Adventure welcomes its new family members and hopes to see the BFC 12 legacy live on.

"Paradigm to paradigm,
Shift after shift,
Never the same,
Andrew's to blame"
Never have I seen such an effective team building course. We keep getting new insights to ourselves. The addition of the debriefing sessions added a whole new dimension to the activities. A masterfully crafted system which not only shows our best but also our worst in the best manner.
In the end, the team (FOCUS) grew stronger from the exposure and pulled together more tightly than before, having a better appreciation of the meaning of accepting the team at it's weakest.
My thanks to Paul, Andrew and Mav, together with all the others who make FOCUS what it is, for giving me this opportunity to go through such a great experiential learning process. To my mates who worked together and pulled through, literally, the tough times, be it, the Mohawk Walk, Low Wall or TCP or any of the other challenging activities, I just want to say that there are no others that I trust more than you guys! Oh, and thanks so much to you too "Boss Of The World".. ><
BFC 12 was a huge out of the box experience. Every activity throughout the course enabled me to learn more about myself; encouraging me to find newer and more interesting ways of solving each and every challenge. All the members of BFC 12 showed a high level of team-building and morale; working together to overcome all challenges!!!
The 5 days was just plain FUN and I've learned a lot from this 5 days. I learned about myself and also how to handle/work with people with different personalities. BFC also makes me realised that we should challenge ourselves in every aspect of our life. Besides having fun throughout the 5 days, it also teaches me a lot about TEAMWORK in a company and why it is so important to work together as a TEAM and not just call ourselves a team. It's a challenge and fun learning experience for me!
BFC 12, The best place to begin is at the beginning, where a group of strangers come together in a place where change and the the atainment of a new perspective is inevitable.
The fun and learning started from the moment we came together and it didn't stop until the very end of the course, I laughed every day, I almost cried when it was time to say farewell.
This course was intense but meaningful on every level and every moment was certainly a challenge, but one that I overcame everytime with the help of my team of friends.
What I've gained from the course is priceless, the friends I made, the different perspectives and insights around facilitation as well as teamwork, leadership and support will remind me of how it can change and impact any person. I'm still taking in all that happened but what I can say for sure is that I wouldn't have missed BFC for anything else and that I am a better person because of it.
I could list the many moments of fun but I'll highlight that ATV'S in the rain was the most fun and morning jogs, however early, was a good bonding session:-)
Well, to summarise the last 5 days, I think it was definitely a journey of self-realisation for many - filled with alot of "light-bulb" moments. No matter how old or young, how experienced or not, there is always something to learn.
The highlight of the trip had to be day 4 - Alot of fun! the only area of improvement would be lack of time! we need at least another few days!!!
Apart from that, a great bunch of people, and a even better program to stick us in, cheers!
BFC12 was one of the most amazing experiences I had since I arrived in Asia. Getting to know a lot of new people from different countries and doing a lot of challenging activities with them, gave me the opportunity to make new friends and learn a lot about myself.
Every activity helped the group to grow stronger and to learn more about intercultural behaviour helping us to understand each other more and more and also to learn a lot about other cultures.
I had a great time during this 5 days and I am happy to say that I got to know people that I will call friends for the rest of my life.
Diverse individuals coming together. Shifting the paradigm to “One Team”. Tackling challenges with high spirits. Solving mind-boggling puzzles. Learning through activities. 26 minutes 45 seconds… keep going! Racing in formation. Enjoying speed under control. Splash! Tidal waves of mud. Fear of falling overcome by a friend’s firm grasp. Courage to jump. Leaping in faith. Encouraging each other’s heart. Bonding over beer… Non-stop laughs. Fun, fun, fun! Best times with buddies. A TEAM through thick and thin. That’s unforgettable BFC12.
I've learnt so much from being part of BFC12. Each activity that we engaged in were ever so challenging, be it mental or physical. No doubt, strong friendship has been formed among us. Through out the course, we were also well guided on how to be an effective facilitator. Overall, I would highly recommend the next BFC to anyone who wants to discover their own potential and to make a difference in someone's life.
It's like growing up all over again but this time, you know you're gonna be a better person. And true enough, the BFC was a breath of fresh air with all the good qualities that comes with it. The people in BFC 12 was like the making of a United Nations, with people from many countries with their own characteristics. It was a nice almagamation of potentials and possibilities and at the end of the course, that possibility was realised. We became one.
I am really glad that I signed up for BFC12 because I had lotsa fun and enjoyed myself thoroughly on jetski and ATV and met a lot of fun-loving friends... And it's amazing how close we are just after 5 days! We started out as strangers from different background, diverse personality and from all over the world, and now we are a high-performance team! BFC12 rocks!
“This is the best ever teambuilding course that I have attended in 10 years of my working experience in banking and financial services.
Furthermore as a participant in Basic Facilitator Course (BFC 12) we are able to see how the whole program run in 2 modes; participant and as a facilitator. The whole activities and challenges are very refreshing, meaningful, challenging and fun. The insight of the program can be precisely applied to corporate world where cohesive teamwork is vital while having fun. To think and act as one will ensure the success of any organization. I would strongly encourage everybody to participate in this program. Two thumbs up to Focus Adventure – Master Yoda”
"For me, it was a week of fun and activities like I have never ever had before. The group was a real fun group - and I enjoyed every day thoroughly. What I really appreciated about Focus Adventure is the philosophy of having fun in everything you do. Wish more organisations had a similar way of thinking. Personally, I think I've learnt a lot in the one week with Focus. Thanks for enabling a great time for all of us !! I just have one problem : Now-a-days when I go jogging, I think of Calamine lotion :-)....Roon"
